when is a good vtec engagement point (h22A)
first of all im doing late night web surfing which brought me to making this thread lol........
anyways my vtec engages at just around 5900-6100 rpm somewhere around there. my old preludes (H22A1) vtec engaged at about 5500ish. (if i remember correctly) im running a p08 ecu not sure if its chipped imma open it and find out in the morning. my question is do u think its vtec opens to late. btw as far as i know i have no rev limit ive taken it to about 8500rpm. which leads me to believe it is chipped. im come across chips for the p08 which have vtec opening at 4600-4900 do u think thats to low? dont think it matters but its a 96 CD7(obd2) jumped to the obd1 p08.

5700 is stock vtec engagement. I believe tat is low since i've heard dont mess wit when vtec engages cuz HOnda made it where it was the best for itself.
stock engine is good between 4800-5200 which is where the stock range is. with the stock computer it can activate later based throttle position and so on, but for optimal power under full throttle usually the number i posted is best assuming stock cams and bolt ons.
revving out to 8500 is a good way to do damage, especially since its not making power out there. assuming all stock i would set the rev limiter at 8000 and shift by 7600, which is still past peak power...
