ive got a 93 civic si when i drive for awhile then turn the car off and then try to start it back up a couple mins later it starts and sputters out. im thinking its the fuel pump packing it in but im not sure. if i wait a couple more mins itll turn back on. i was going to replace the pump but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas? thanks

no light doesnt come on. just sputters off. i know its being starved but not sure if its pump

 

Mate, it might be your fuel pump relay switch, normally found under your dash board,
its also known as main relay, you just need to solder all the joints, they become dry and fail over time.

 

just replaced the main relay which got rid of the problem where i would drive for awhile and then turn it off and then it wouldnt start at all. now it starts up but then sputters off. before i replaced the relay the cel would come on as it was turning over

 

Has the CEL stopped working, that is it never turns on at all anymore?

Test for spark. The coil or igniter unit may be bad.
