Same as the rest of your car. But depending on how it was made it may fade and/or flake no matter what you do. That's why I have sworn off of any exterior carbon fiber parts.

Mine had small cracks no matter what I did. VIS was the brand.

If you really like the quality of fitment and the lay of the carbon fiber itself, I would recommend in investing in having the clear coat sanded down and re-cleared by a shop. I had that done on my first car and for the 2 years I had it, it never faded the slightest bit. The problem with CF anything is the quality of the clear coat they give with it.

Keep it out of the sun... seriously, park in the shade or garage it as often as possible. Keep it clean too, but unless you're having it cleared like FrameBang suggested be extra careful how you clean it. The gel coat that came on my VIS hood and trunk is extremely prone to scratching/marring/scuffing. Make sure it's very wet and soapy when you clean it, and don't scrub at stubborn dirt too hard/much. I've had my VIS for 4 years and by following this it hasn't faded much at all.

the reason the CF hoods fade/crack is because the thick coat of resin applied during manufacturing.

The resin gel coat gets hot, fades and looks gross. Sand it down with some 220-400-600 and apply a new clearcoat over the original gel layer after sanded down. This will ensure a long lasting shine on your CF hood.
