1994 Honda Civic EX coupe build thread___ATL-GA
Hey, I just got another Honda. Have been a Honda owner for 7 years since I got my driver's license. Looking to show some progress and pictures of my newest purchase and some pictures of my previous car.
At 16, bought this 2000 Honda Civic Si (EBP) for $6,000 from my brother in 2006 with 199k miles.

At 22, traded the Si in this condition at 294k miles in 2011 to a guy for a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 500R with 29 miles.

I then sold the bike for a decent price and purchased a 1994 Civic Coupe with 213k miles.

This is my blank canvas. Good paint, great body, perfect interior with a few minor problems which are being fixed.
My cupholder would not work, so I went to the local pull a part, found a full center console and pulled the cupholder out and figured that out
$3
Pics will be uploaded.
Pulled a good looking a pillar from the junkyard since the one in there was cracked at the top and holes in it from where a previous tachometer was mounted.
$7
Pics will be uploaded.
The windshield wiper switch was floppy and would not click back into position so I shockingly found one in the pull a part.
$15
Pics will be uploaded.
I'm going to be updating this periodically. Any questions, helpful hints, or anything, feel free to post in here!
Thanks

Yeah, I worked 2 years as a detailer to afford that car. It was maintained by a Master Honda Technician before my brother brother bought it. The car ran perfectly and as you can see, looked very nice.
went back to the junk yard for a couple pieces today.
found a good e-brake center console cover
$4
roof seal slides
$6
tail light wiring cover Right side
$1
found the left side too, but it had a broken clip, so i threw it back in...
painting the roof slides and windshield wiper arms right now, i'll post some pics later.
also might be picking up a s20 trans and z6 short block for $175. in a few days.

That Si was clean, If it was me i wouldn't of sold that for any bike. but 94 coupe's do have potential to like really nice. Maybe lowering it a little (DON'T SLAM IT), tint and some new rims!!??
By the way could you explain what a "pull a part" is?

It's a junk yard, where you bring your own tools and take parts out of cars that you need.
The SI was nice, you should have kept that, but the 94 is nice as well. Good luck with the build.

i sold the Si because i wanted something different and it had a few problems i wasn't willing to put the money into. and the motorcycle was new with 29 miles on it.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. My new phone confuses me and doesnt have a flash on the camera. I'll post pictures of some stuff soon.
thanks for the "do this to your car" post!
Junkyards in NC are full of the same old busted minivans and pickups. Anyone know of any good junkyards in the Eastern NC area? I have a 93 4 dr EX that needs a good amount of interior work
got some sanding work done on the front bumper.. This was the worst paint job ever. The previous owners sent the car to a maaco and had no prep work done beforehand. There were painted-over rock chips, scratches, and the grille and light bezels were painted (this is a huge pet peeve of mine).

Needless to say, I'm looking at about 20-25 man hours of prep work for this car. No real body damage other than some waves and dings in the doors and quarter panels.
I'm having the car painted by someone in town in a few weeks. Starting a new job tomorrow so i'll have plenty of updates as soon as my income enlarges!

So here's an update...
The z6 in it started knocking.
driving on interstate, starts making a knocking sound and the oil pressure light comes on. So i drive it back home and it is now making this horrible knock. haha. it's different than anything i've ever heard.
But yeah, i picked up another z6 longblock with intake manifold, exhaust manifold, distributor, and full wiring harness for 400 dollars. 125k miles and i'm replacing what i can while it's on my engine stand.
i am going to be rebuilding the current z6 and probably doing a low compression build for turbo later on. It's not really a priority. I just like to have an engine to play with.
pics uploading now.

Well damn...that sucks about the engine knock! Either way...looks like you already have a good replacement in line!! How much did you give for the car??
paid 2000 for the car. it ran good. I did a compression check. i guess the oil pump just went out. everything else is great.. just bad luck i guess.
if you look at your Vin number you will see that your car is an EJ8
