Default stealing a car

i know many people that browse and which are members of this resource, are thieves and steal cars if its from a full time job or just a onces in a year thing i wanted to ask you guys what does it take to stop you. whats the most you will go threw and the time limit that you will spend on trying to steal a car. i dont mean to offend anyone but im just simply trying to protect my car. cant even sleep right at night going outside to check up on my ride every time i hear something. would a autoloc + basic alarm with hidden brains = protection or what will it take for it just be too much to bother trying to steal a vehicle. i have 4 different manual kill switches, auto loc , club , alarm with back up batteries 3 cuz 2 is almost comment, three sirens main - back up and pain , dual shock sensor , tilt sensor, pager which doest really work plus the basics and lo jack not to mention its always parked in a over seas shipping cointaner with 3 lock bulks and stored in my garage with a adt house alarm. is my car safe?

Sad thing is that no matter what you can do to your car, there is someone out there that can take it if wanted. Car alarms and such are deterents. There is nothing out there to stop someone from taking it if he/she wants it badly enough!I would suggest to make it as hard to take as poss. and hopefully someone whos looking will pick another car because of the time it would take to get yours.

I have to concur....If they want it bad enough...its gone. What you can do as a owner...try to make it as hard of a target as you can...alarm,multiple and redundant sensors ( ie hood lock, pinswitch on hood, hidden sirens, battery backup).....What saddens me is that as car owners we dont think about security until we are violated..don't believe me check the forums..everyday someone loses a car...I wish you the best in your search.

The same thing that has been said over tons of times - "use layers of security"

There is no such thing as a "protected" car. Well, unless you hire 2 armed bodyguards or your dads the godfather or something, then yea no one will touch it heh. And its quite funny that you think the thief would actually give you advice

You have to remember 95% of alarms are installed poorly and are easily bypassed. The immboilizers on most new cars are quite effective at preventing theft. An alarm deters more against vehicle content theft.

A car alarm will stop if the car is tilted at a 45 degree angle

yeah pretty much like everyone said... no matter what you have if a pro theif has his eyes set on getting your car their going to get it....

alarms may thwart the smash and grab theives/amateurs.. then there are the ones that don't care cuz they think they'll be in and out quick and no1's around (like when your parked on the streets around a club and every1's in the club)... then theres the car theives that will rip out the dash or have sum1 open the hood to cut the siren and find the brain and such... many alarms are just installed basically where you drop the dash cover (or rip it out) and the brain along w/ all the start kill relays, wire harnesses, etc are just right there in plain view... this makes the theives job easy...

basically all you can do is layer your security.. and hope a pro theif doesn't want your car... I have a well installed alarm (hidden brain, stealth wiring, multipoint immobilization, hood pin switch, door/trunk pins, multiple sirens (internal and out), batt back ups, pager, tilt, proximity, and shock/impact sensor).. this is all the alarm... after the alarm is defeated I still have kill switches (which I'm not going to mention/elaborate), club AND autolock,

in addition when my car is at home.. I have it parked in the garage, lock the garage, and also enable the "lock' feature on the garage door opener.. where when its on "lock" it won't take transmitted codes to open the door opener... in addition we also have a house alarm w/ armed response/patrol so if the garage is broken it would alert me in the house as well as notify the security company to come to my house... I live in a pretty good area + have the garage and home alarm system + still turn on the alarm and put on the locks and kills while parked at home... its when I'm not at home that I get worried about my car getting jacked

You were watching the movie "TWINS" weren't you. You can't be serious. Mine will not stop even if you turn it upside down and have a giant jump on it.

Edit: when you think your origanal, a 4door beats you to it.

EVEN if you made your car undrivable there are ways to get it. You could be carjacked for the car or it could be towed away. nice and easy. Another not so very well know trick was a rolling chop shop. Cars are stollen either by carjacking or towing them and loaded into a big rig. The rig is equiped with the necessary tools and the car is dismantled from within all while the truck is rolling. There was a bust out here in Santa Monica a while back that involved this type of heist. it is pretty elaborate and well thought out. Like a bunch of people said, if they want it bad enough they will get it.

search for fuel pump kill switch. that is pretty effective, unless you're getting towed.

If you want protection against having your car towed you could probably get a Mercury switch. It is a little tube with liquid mercury inside, if you paid attension in science class you know that mercury is the only metal that is liquid at room temperature. Anyway when the car is tilted the liquid goes to one side making contact with a wire to triger the system, this is an old trick, now there may even be digital types of tilt sensors....

mercury switches tend to false a lot in some cases depending on where your parked (incline) or the weather n such... they have digital tilt/motion sensors nowadays and they zero/reset themselves...

yeah i heard of cars that have been stolen with the autoloc. its not 100% effective but its a good layer of protection. theres a clamp looking device which is used to snap the the autoloc in half. its made and available to repo and car sales licensed holders. just the fact that its invented hurts and make me panic a little more. i however would strongly suggest anyone who panics for there car being jacked to get a autoloc heard alot of good remarks.
