Sounds like a decent deal if the extra tranny is in good order and if you do the work your self. Taking the car to shop to get the tranny change will cost more in the long run.

 

You sure it's the tranny and not the common differential leaking that's spewing fluid? Stay on top of maintenance and keep an eye on the common BHG(Blown Head gasket) problem.
