Default 99 GS-R Sedan RHD with JDM Type-R front and Drivetrain

Posting build pics of my RHD project. Let me know what you think. I welcome all comments, good or bad.

I started with a 99 GS-R sedan that I picked up with a blown motor. Bought a front clip from a company in Cali. Sold every USDM part that I didn't need. Acquired a set of 2009 Civic SI seats with blown air bags and repaired them to be aesthetically pleasing and welded in some spacers and nuts to the floor pan to make them a bolt-in part. Still in the process of modifying the rear seat brackets to make the 07-10 Civic SI Sedan rear seats work with the car. Getting cold up here in Wisconsin and I'm about ready to put it away for the winter.

Anyways, the build has been fun so far, all done by me. I love driving the car and people are always looking and asking about it. Not too many RHD's running around in Wisconsin. Thanks for vieiwng.

This is what I started with (partially disassembled).

This is after I got the engine bay finished, seam sealed, engine reinstalled, and partially done.

and first startup.

I paid $4800 shipped for the clip off some company on eBay (Soshin USA), I think it was one of the cleanest clips I've ever seen. It took me a whole winter to do the RHD conversion, and I've been tinkering with it ever since last winter and buttoning up some of the smaller issues one by one. If I had a heated shop, I could probably get the whole process done in a month. For just a type r front conversion (sheet metal only) I could have done in a weekend. I've posted this car for sale, actually. I love the car, love it when people see it and I love people's reaction to it. But, I'm getting older and planning on jumping into a Subie. I'm sick of having cars I can't drive in the winter (this one is in storage at my boss's warehouse). Check out my post if you are interested in buying it

So you built it just to sell it? lol. Oh well, it came out awesome. BTW, what camera are you using? Not the video camera, your actual camera.

I bought it on eBay on one of those daily deal things. I think I paid $150 with free shipping. Bought a second battery and charger so I can keep going. I'm happy with it.

Thanks for the info, I might pick one of those up as a carry around. For the real photoshoots though, I use my dad's $5,000 Nikon DH2, well that's when it was new, now it goes for $3,200 haha. It's huge though, that's why I would like one of the sony's you have to carry around in my car.

both, since the JDM wiring runs down the right side and the USDM runs down the left, I ran my USDM wiring up to the front seat, over across to the right under the seat and over the hump and up to the JDM harness (or what was left of it after I got my clip). I also had to deal with the fact that my clip was off a 2-door, and my car was a 4-door, so I had to run extra wires to power the rear locks and windows, since I wanted them operational. Search eBay for a repair manual on CD, it comes in handy, make sure you get a good one with wiring diagrams. I could copy mine and sell it to you. It's a life saver for sure if you get stuck. It also came in handy when I had to re pin the plug for the (new) driver's door master switch. I took the wire harness in the USDM front driver door (left) and switched it with the right door's harness, just so I could put in the JDM window switches, and yes, you will have to invest in some RHD window switches, no way around that. If you need help, pm me for my email address.

Looks really good man. Good to see that you're doing it right and not just doing it the easy/cheap way.
