So just threw a P0420 code
A little disappointed in under a week the car I thought that was going to be reliable already throws a code, but it is what it is, maybe it was already there and the guy failed to mention it to me,anyway. From what I read up on it seems to be the cat is dying and I took a look at it today and its seen better days from what I gathered. Now what is the best replacement for the cat, a hi-flo, test pipe? Im looking for recommendations, Money is tight but I dont wanna get a cheap ebay cat haha. I have a bosal exhaust tip, so I check into them, they have a bosal OE replacement for 175$, any one tried this?
Don't mistake a CEL for an unreliable Honda. All cars require maintenance, especially exhaust parts w/that much mileage. I'm guessing the prior owner reset the battery/ECU prior to you purchasing it so that it didn't show the CEL until now.
Anyway. I don't know what your emission laws are in NH and if you're concerned about smog or not. If you get a test pipe you'll need to get an o2 simulator otherwise the CEL will be on all the time. Search around, this has been covered lots of times on here.

p0420 could be 2 things, maybe your o2 sensor or maybe your cat try changing the 02 sensor first thats the cheapest, if it still throwing you a code its time to change the cat
i had that problem too but im too cheap to buy a cat but instead i put a defouler and the cel hasnt come back on ever since
