97 Prelude w/F22b1+H22A4 manual tranny. Need help asap.
Purchased this car from a guy that gave up on it with high hopes that I will get it running and make it my daily driver. Being new to the H-series and F-series, I need someone to help me decide if the route that I'm taking is correct. The shell is a 5-speed 97 Prelude SH. The previous owner dropped in an automatic SOHC VTEC F22B1 and bolted on the H22A4 transmission. He removed the automatic plate(?torque converter?) and the ATTS unit and bolted on a flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. After all the work that he did, he said that he wasn't getting spark when trying to start it and gave up on it. SOOOO..with all that said..I am the new owner and currently looking to buy parts to get this baby back on the road. So far my research has led me to buy:
5-speed intermediate shaft(94-97 accord)
5-speed driver's side axle(94-97 accord???)
Slave cylinder(90-97 accord)
New ECU??
What else do I need to know before I start buying and start fixing? I would really appreciate any input and I hope that I posted my question in the right area. Thanks and I'll be checking back often.

you could use the 5 spd intermediate shaft from the accord. as long as you use the drivers side axle as well...
although it would be better if you got the intermediate shaft from a prelude (they are stronger, and spline is different) then you could just re use the original axle that came with the car.. its cheaper that way..
Now im un clear as to what your saying.. he bolted the sh transmision onto the f22 block? which is doable.. but you wont be able to put the axle in it, unless you change the differential (i think that what its called)
For the no spark problem.. your vehicle is a obd2.. which means that there is a crank sensor at the oil crank area. they only way to bypass this (since the motor is in the car already) is to use a td61-u(usdm external coil) or td60-u (jdm internal coil) distributor (which has the sensor inside) i would use the usdm version as you would already have the external coil. it would be plug and play.
Note you would have to get an adapter harness so that way you dont have to cut anyhthing. or make it yourself (pm me if your interested in one, as I make them) your other option is to buy one from rywire.. which is like 50 bucks (i did, now i just copy it)

what transmission is actually in there? is it a normal 5 spd or is it a type-sh atts 5 spd?
do you know how the harness has been modified to fit the new engine? what distributor is actually in there?

I tried searching for the transmission code to distinguish what type is it, but I wasn't able to locate it. I seems like it was sanded off because I can see scuff marks on where the code should be. So I decided to crawl under the car and take a picture of what's going on. I will text the seller to get a definite answer as to what kind of transmission it is. As of right now, I believe it is a SH transmission, because the seller included the ATTS unit with the sale and it's sitting in the trunk of the car.
As for the distributor and harness, the seller completely disassembled the distributor and pulled out the coil..So I am left with pieces and wires from a disassembled distributor.
The condition of the harness is unknown. From what I can see, most of the plugs are hooked up. I haven't looked over the harness yet but I will when I get time. I'll start researching on a F22B1 swap with H22A4 engine harness.
Under the car where the transmission mates to the block.

that is a type sh transmission and for it to work it requires the atts unit which bolts to the back of the block, a regular halfshaft will not work. easiest thing to do is go and buy a regular 5 speed from a 92+ accord or prelude.
Okay I found a 95' Accord EX manual transmission on Craigslist for $80. From my understanding, ALL H-Series and F-series transmissions are interchangeable except the SH w/ATTS. I will go ahead and buy that, along with Accord intermediate shaft and Prelude axles. That should be correct.
As far as wiring, I should have to get the a 5-speed Accord EX ECU. I will probably have figure out what to cut and splice on the engine harness..considering it is a 97 Prelude SH harness. I feel like I'm getting closer to getting the car on the road. Thanks!

90-91 accord trannies wont bolt up to the prelude transmission side mount, but they will bolt to the block.
the accord ecu should work though there is a possibility that the egr circuit may need to be repinned at the ecu as the obd1 5th gen accords had 2 wires switched at the ecu, not sure if obd2 has the same or not.
