Default Took the R down the 1320 tonight...

I know lots of people say its not for drag racing... and I agree... But what FWD car really IS for drag racing? Anyway, car is a 98. Realatively stock. Comptech icebox, Greddy MUFFLER (stock exhaust) and a little modification to a stock JDM ITR fuel/ignition maps... Thats it. Left with a 14.6 @ 96mph with a sweet 2.43 60 foot. Never did quite figure out how to launch it. About the 5th or 6th run the clutch was slipping after each shift. Let it cool down some and it was hooking again... I just couldn't win the battle of how to launch. Dump it and it hops, slip it and it spins. I still think it did damn good for what it is.

buy a quality traction bar and that should take care of your wheel hop. should help your 60ft times too.

Im thinking that along with a 4.75 final drive and a nice 4-1 header with a 2.5" collector. I'd like to get my trap speeds up into the tripple digit range.

I have a hatch with a jdm itr motor and off the bottle runs 13.8 at 101 on the bottle 75shot
13.1 at 106 full weight with 1.9 60ft. You need drag radials or slicks and should break into
the high 13s. Good luck don't break anything.

That's not a bad time for a semi stock R. I'd sure address the wheel hop issue asap if you're going to continue to drag race it. Wheel hop can really break and/or screw up a lot of things.

Get a better clutch, get a traction bar set up, and search for user name ActiveAero's launch tutorial. GL.

Drag radials and a good launch should do the trick. Traction bars help when launching @ high rpms. Good luck

The clutch was slipping a bit after each shift I would say after approx 4-5 runs. The car has 112k on it, so who knows what condition the clutch is in. Its may daily driver and hasn't given me any issues asside from that at the drag strip. I have an Exeddy stage one clutch in the garage for when it becomes a problem. Its not a big enough deal for me to want to go an tear the car apart just yet though.

With the 2.4 60 foot, and the 96 mph trap speed, its telling me I have a lower 14 in there. I doubt I will be able to pull that out of the car without some better tires though. These Falken Zeix really aren't that great when it comes to traction out of the hole.

It's been years ago but my best time before boost was 14.3 @ 96 mph. That was with a CAI, JDM DC 4-1 header, test pipe plus an N1 c/b with Azenis 215's.

Great starting point. More seat time, better parts and you'll be good

It's a basically stock R. You don't need traction bars. Learn how to launch your car and you wont have wheel hop.

I ran 14.7 at the track in my bone stock R on street tires missing 4th and have not been back since in a stock setup.

Just get more seat time and you will improve your time.

If you want to spend money invest in some better tires such as Mickey Thompson drag radials. Don't waste your money on a traction bar.

Way better than I did my first time! The best i've done thus far is a 14.535 @ 95.41MPH and that was my first run of the night. 2nd run I had a battle with heat soak and spinning the tires and did a 14.742 @ 97MPH. They are low 14 second cars with bolt on mods. With traction mods like traction bars and better tires I've seen high 13's.

Sorry but I don't fully agree there. Seat time is a definite factor, learning your car but also take in mind getting solid motor mounts or at least inserts.
A traction bar will help but I've also seen track conditions cause wheel hop no matter how you launch it.

I agree seat experience will def help to get the hang of it..
I wouldn't worry too much about the bars just yet... But def better tires. those Ziex are not good for that. Get some MT's, or some Nitto's, S-drives, Khumo's...

traction bars and a set of drag radials will be much better if you could get like a 1.9 60 youll be golden its very possible with the 2 parts listed above cause ive done it! general rule of thumb my dad always said was if you cut a 1/10 of your 60 thats 2/10's off the top end time

Thats a decent time for a semi stock R.

Heres my all motor run on slicks. 13.000 @ 106. Only ran it once that night before I snapped an axle.

On a 75 shot I ran a 12.8 @ 111 on DR's with the nitrous shutting off halfway down the track.

Thats because I realized that I won't be going anywhere with an all motor built B series. K series with bolt ons make the same power as a piston/cam B
