How to find tdc to get block and head mated right
It has been about 5 years since i have had an engine apart and I have no clue what the hell im into right now, got a d15b2 stock hf in my crx. the crx was all taken apart when i got it and i need to put it together quick just so i can move it and resume the zc build. so i need to make sure the head and block are in unison, not driving it far as i have no clue whats up with the motor, took off the pan and everything looks intact under there. i am pretty sure i am missing 100 bolts but the junkyard is an easy fix for that. just need a little help. i am now car stupid.
There should be a mark on the toothed timing belt crank sprocket that lines up with a pointer on the block. It's been several years, but I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.
on the oil pump there is and arrow pointing down. you have to line it up with the mark on the crankshaft sprocket. then the bottom end is @ tdc. I always take out the #1 cylinder spark plug and stick a long screw driver in the cylinder to make sure its @ tdc. the screw driver should be at the highest point when turning it over. for the head, the cam sprockets have marks on them, and the word up stamped on them. up should be on top and 90 degrees from that you have marks that should face each other. heres a pic of the top end with the timing marks @ tdc.
