Noob, track day question.
Im sorry if this is a stupid question but i was wondering if there was a site that had a list of all the local track days that were happening. I live in San Diego and I wanted to do some track days but i dont know where to look. I know Buttonwillow and Willowsprings? Thanks everyone.
Doooood go back and look at the "faq"
searching helps..... try track days.... so cal on google.
This will help you find events, or sanctioning bodies that put on the events.

Another source of track events is MotorsportsReg.com. This is an online sign in for club that have registered through them. There are of course other groups who do not use motorsportsreg, but is will show a lot of events.
Here is a good source for track info:

I usually end up going to my local track's website and looking at their calender. Then make a master list from all the different tracks and pick and choose which ones to go to.

Finding organizations that put on track days can be hard when you're just starting out googling the web. Here are some from my bookmarks:

www.ncracing.org
www.extremespeedtrackevents.com

If our nooob went to the faq he could of found the information there too, or at least some clues as to where to look.
But thats ok lets have a few hundred threads on where to find everything.
Defeats the whole purpose of having a faq. what do i know though.

I know the protocol, and I'm right there with you, usually the thing that bugs me most about forums. But in this case your suggestions weren't helpful. The FAQ does not list any info that would lead to him finding any of the companies I linked to. Unless there's something in there that I'm not seeing. A google search is a pretty useless thing in this instance as well - I've been down that route and for some reason HPDE type track events just simply don't show up on there, or maybe there are some really specific search terms to use which aren't very intuitive, or maybe you just need to get 50 pages down in the results to find 'em. The standard ones like "track day" "track event" ...etc don't return helpful results, I spent hours doing this previously when I was looking for groups to sign up with. The only thing that does seem to work is searching here on this forum. So maybe you're right, maybe I shouldn't have posted anything and just let him use the H-T search function - sorry.

HPDE and track days are easy to find if people would just search and read a little.
The majority of the track day groups list their events right here so we know whats coming up.
I know stuff gets redundant but ive been on this site for a long time. I have searched google and it didnt help. Searching this forum get annoying and tiring because you have to read threw 30 pages of BS to find one little piece of info that may or may not help. Thanks for those that helped.
I used to live in SD, and I remember they had the Charger (?) stadium parkinglot coned off like a track every Saturday. Maybe check that out. Looked fun. Made me dream... Good luck.

I've been on this board for a long time and still can't find chit when I need it. So I start another post asking for specifics. 9 times out of 10, the first reply is 'do a search'. I still have questions about thermal shielding, aerodynamics, and weight reduction. These topics have been covered dozens of times! But like Cidone said, you have to swim through 100's of post of crap to find the small nuggets of useful information. I don't have that time to waste. It's easier to just start a new post.

- ALWAYS use the "advanced" search function
- ALWAYS start w/ the most specific search possible and widen your search as needed
- Start by searching only thread titles, seach entire posts if needed
- Start by searching in the most relevant sub-forum and expand to others as needed
I've always assumed this is extremely obvious but maybe that's not the case and I'm just used to it since I've been using automotive forums for nearly 15yrs now.
