Default Loosening Rear Brake Drum Self-Adjuster? 2000 Civic EX

I was replacing my wheel bearings in the back so I figured I'd swap my drums out while I was at it. Passenger side was a breeze but I couldn't get the drum on the driver's side. Being the idiot I am, I pumped the brakes and the adjuster set itself way too high so the problem is even worse. How can I loosen this thing? Seems like it only goes in one direction, unless I'm wrong.

Really appreciate any advice, this is stressing me out

Edit: Just popped the lever off and threaded the adjuster bolt downward. I assume I can just pop the drum on and pump the brakes to adjust it upward again after everything's assembled
