opinion on spring drops
im looking for a great riding spring drop. i know any modification to the car will make for a stiffer ride, so im looking for opinions on what type of spring you guys think rides well. i was considering tein and h&r
i have an 00 ek coupe, thanks guys!

Ive always been a fan of Tein springs. THe S-Techs (which stand for soft technology) have a softer spring rating then most so the ride isnt to bad. You can run them with oem shocks but i would garentee you that they would last that long. I have them on a 92 hatch with brand new oem springs right now and its stiff but not teeth breaking stiff like the skunk2 springs that i had. Ive also owned a 94 coupe that had eibach springs on it and they were even softer but with stock struts i was pretty disapointed with the performance of the springs.

a mild (less than 2") drop that improves handling without sacrificing too much ride quality.
im only asking because im new to this chassis, i know all well that lowering a car tends to take away a bit of comfort. i have a nissan s12 thats less than 3" off the ground. does it ride bad? depending on surface, yes, does it pull hella G's on the skidpad considering it has 205 section tires? yes.
but im looking for daily driver comfort with an increased handling and visual appeal.

Eibach sport line. They offer a "sport line kit" that includes they're shocks.
Would be a dectent setup. Still maintain ride qaulity, but they should deffinetly improve the handling no problem.
Another shock to take a look at is the Koni str-t.
The GR2/blue, and both ****. They are OEM replacements, and will only support some much. As OEM shocks, are 3 don't like too much of an increase in spring rate, and or drop.
They'll blow just like the OEM shocks will.

my buddy has those on his b15 sentra, they seem nice. he blew the stock shocks rather quick though.
im looking for a budget shock to match the spring well, adjustability isnt a concern.
Comfort |---O-------------------------------------| Performance
Slide the O somewhere along the bar. You can only get one by sacrificing the other.
This mythical quest for "handles good and rides well" is just that; a mythical quest.
My car handles great. My rates are pretty soft at 350/350 and I would certainly not consider my ride "comfortable." Especially with mediocre roads.
What's the goal of the car? Autocross? Road racing? Wrecking into other cars/street lamps on the street?
The best, cheapest setup is probably either the Eibach pro kit or sportline kit, but I would recommend progress CS-II 350/250 with a good rear sway bar.

im fully aware that you will sacrifice comfort for performance. i suppose i would like an equal balance of both. im not trying to be hellaflush with this car, nor am i going to autox weekends, i bought it for gas mileage, and to commute, a majority of my mods are going to be made to increase appeal, rather than performance, im not really interested in swapping the engine and doing stuff like that at this time. i have my toy, which i sink my cash into.

any luck with skunk2? i had some of their springs on my 1st gen xb back in the day and they seemed nice... i thought they were relabeled eibachs anyways?
There's nothing inherent about the design difference in the spring of a "coil/shock" as oppose to the spring of a "coil-over"
They're both springs, typically identical but the adjustable coil-over simply has a collar on a threaded shock body.
The progressiveness and the rate at which the spring compresses is what determines comfort, not whether or not it's yellow or red or some other arbitrary characteristic.

the upper pillowmounts are a bit more direct with coilovers however, as compared to stock upper spring mounts which have a lot of rubber to isolate road and tire noise
