Default CRX PROBLEM :(

hey guys, i put a b18b1 in my si crx and im having a problem keeping it running. Im getting fuel, im getting spark, the timing is good and the wires are in the correct firing order, now the car starts bit very violently and sputters and the second i hit the throttle it turns off. any ideas to what this could be?

i plugged in all the vacum lines and the car is obd0 so its not looking for a map sensor just the throttle position sensor, someone said the dizzys off but it should still stay on even when i press the gas but it doesnt

seriously? your map sensor is on the fire wall. i plugs into the small vacuum port on the throttle body. you NEED one to run the car. car wont run with out it, as even obd0 cars need it to detect the atmosphere pressure and how much air is being drawn into the engine. the tps tells the ecu how far the throttle is open to use the correct corresponding fuel and timing maps.

also, do you have your stock si engine harness running the b18? you shouldn't have had to change any wiring to use the ls swap unless you converted to obd1. even then you should either re pin obd1 plugs in or use adapter plugs, and make a sub harness for the o2 sensor. an ls swap into an si or hf is a plug n play swap. no wiring mods are needed. what do you mean it ran a dualy before? like it ran a DPFI engine? or a dual cam zc?

the car came with a ls a b18b1 with the stock crx si harness, so i put the exact same motor in with the same parts meaning dizzy and harness etc, i plugged everything in the way it was but what i did notice on the other motor that there was no map sensor on the intake, the new ls i have has one and im starting to think it is a vacum leak

You must understand something - these are SPEED DENSITY systems and NOT MAF EFI vehicles. You HAVE to have a MAP sensor hooked up... yes even on 88-91 Hondas - they are located on the firewall just to the left of the throttle body. Not until around 1994 did they start coming on the throttle bodies... Even the beginning EG's were still on the firewall... The early Integra's had them on the firewall...

You can just leave the MAP sensor sitting on the throttle body and use the one on the firewall. Either that OR extend the stock wiring harness to be able to plug it into the one on the engine. Everything you describe points to not having to MAP sensor hooked up properly and/or bad wiring...

We had the EXACT same problem when we first started our B18C1 swap. Turned out we swapped the TPS and MAP sensor plugs.

Listen to these guys...
