Default civic ex cluster lights don't work

hello folks, im having a hard time trying to look at the cluster on my 1997 honda civic ex when driving to see the speed limit when i have to. the gear lights work well "automatic" the warning lights work well too it's just the rpm and the speedomete that don't light up for nothing. today i pulled out the cluster and check the light bulbs "brown color plastic tip" and they look fine not burnt. what could it be?

all help it's appreciated, thanks

anyone?
it has to be a little thing because the ebgine/oil/brake etc lights work perfect, it just the rpm and speedometer that dont light up. i don't have a manual to check what fuse it could be

Time to get out the multimeter and start testing! lol I had this happen on my '93 Civic and it was the dash brightness control had gone bad. Checked for continuity and there was none. Swapped it out and it worked fine. Does yours have a dash brightness control? If it's not something simple like a fuse, I'd start there.

All those lights and the dash lighting have different sources of power. Does your climate control light up?

Default 97 civic ex dimmer switch/cruise, rpm/speedometer dont work.

hello peeps, i have a 1997 honda civic ex i'm having problems with the dimmer switch it doesn't light up the speedometer nor the rpm all the other lights on the cluster work fine, i took out the dimmer switch and clean the dust it had no luck, i also did the jump thing black to red wire and it didn't light up

also the cruise control don't work the light doesn't light up when i try to turn it on, what could it be?

by the way this lights DO work, the turn signals, low/hi beam, fog light, brake lights, dome light, climate lights.

i took the cluster and checked the bulbs that have brown plastic and are big they look good. i don't know if i need to check the ones that have wires on them ?

the cruise control switch look like it has a burnt bulb because i could see like brown residue around the bulb , it also had a buld cover in like foil? i couldn't see if that bulb works.

I think you need to check the fuses. I had the same problem on my 98 civic and I checked the fuses and the fuse that controls my lights on my dash lights was burnt out. So replace that and your good to go.
