Default 2001 Honda Accord gear selector
Honda Accord with automatic transmission. The gear selector will not release without pumping the brake pedal several times. Is there a sensor that controls this or is it a cable?

Probably the brake light switch, which is right above the brake pedal. Easy replacement. Do a search on the forum and you'll see various pictures, instruction, etc.
