Default Grinding gears.. (Every gear over 2500RPMs)

I just picked up this 87 CRX Si last night. It grinds every gear unless i let the rpms drop to about 2500. Im going to adjust the clutc cable but I know the fluid hasnt been changed leightly so I am going to run out and get fluid.

When I had a 96 integra a couple years back, I had a 3rd gear whine. I followed some advice and ended up using 1 Qt (or more?) of GM Synchromesh in the tranny. Wow - it got rid of the grind 100%. Dunno if that stuff is safe to use in this tranny or not though..

What do you guys do? Car is stock with 145k miles. 5 spd.

Safety feature in the tranny to prevent racing or normal driving

So with that logic a 1970's Civic is the same as a 2000's? Interesting logic... I posted the link because people here usually don't mess around with the 3 generations - you will get more knowledgable help there...
