Okay. I know I'm going to hear all D-series cam gears are the same, but this is what confused me. Here's a pic of what I took of the oem cam gear and an aftermarket ac autotechnic cam gear. The oem has a notch that goes into the camshaft but all the other D series cam gear has notches outside the camshaft. So my question is does the notch matter if its in or out and can I use any aftermarket cam gear on my jdm d15b. Thanks in advance.

 

Find a woodruff key that would fit. Otherwise I think you just bought a paperweight. Don't quote me though.

 

I actually got it as a gift, but are all d series cam gears key outward like the one on the left?

 

get a woodruff key and youll be fine..
