opinions on turbo/customizing
got this in a trade and planned on selling/trading it but after collecting more parts towards a full kit i now plan on using it..this will be my first forced induction build so bare with me..it's a garret gt2052 i believe made for an 01 ranger..the question is what would be the best route to fit it for a manifold? has a triangle flange.
here's a link to the turbo as well:

Not much of an opinion but to make a flange with a custom manifold. We're saying there's really not much more to say. Many people on this forum (especially first time aspiring "boosters" like yourself) who magically "find" these turbos that they got for free, or trade, or exchanged for tickets to a concert, quickly learn that 1) you must make the majority of the parts you need to make it work, and 2) there was a reason why it was "free" in the first place... which is it was either on its last leg, or they couldn't use it either.
So, the responses are going to be mainly silent because this has all been covered before literally hundreds of thousands of times, and people just don't want to feel as though they are being redundant. Its not necessarily your fault, but you gotta check those FAQs first and be as specific as you can when you ask for impressions, opinions, thoughts, etc.. Because honestly, you'll get it, it just may not be what you want (or expected) to hear as a response.
Good luck.

it's cool i hear you man and it's more my fault for not being more specific..i've done my research on the turbo itself which is why i decided to stick with it even though as you stated will need fab. work and that's why many people shy away but i guess the real question was..am i beter off buying a pre-made adapter for another turbo and cutting one side off and just welding the flange? or just getting to flat plates and custom making an adapter?
No one makes a pre-made adapter, that's what I've been saying all along. There's no better way to do any of this. Either way, you have to fab a custom flange, with a gasket custom made to fit a manifold of your design. You'll have difficulty welding anything to a cut nickel iron cast turbine housing.
Well your best bet would be to sell that turbo & use the money towards something made for your application....as great advise was stated above, theres usually a reason its very cheap or free....
an adapter like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-5-TD05-T3-...ht_2693wt_1171
yeah the fab isn't a problem..had the turbo for sale but haven't seen much interest (obviously) so just gonna do the work i'll post pics of the progress
