Default how do I disconnect the malfunction light?

How do I disconnect the malfunction light on my 2005 Honda Pilot? I've taken it to the dealership and they say it's the catalectic converter, and it will be $1200 to repair. We don't require that in my state and I'm not paying for an un-neccesary repair. Can I disconnect the light? I just want the light off. Any help please?

Not a smart idea. More than likely the cat will cause the engine to perform poorly and lead to other issues. Also if you disable it and you get a real malfunction, how can you tell?

What you're describing is similar to those people that know they're sick but won't go to the doctor because the doctor will tell them that they are sick. Doesn't make sense. Fix the problem. The vehicle was designed to work as a whole.

Ditto that. kind of.

I would definatly not disable the CEL, pull the cat and install a test pipe, cheaper then a cat by a ton.

I have not had a cat on my 94 teg for over 10 years, no problems. 94

PS maybe look at something other then a stock, [spelled r i p m e o f f] cat , maybe a Magnaflow... http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...ytic+Converter

LoL, that post above kinda flies in the face of your sig, no? The cats are not the same. You will never see a Magnaflow cat last for 10 years or over 100k. Thats the price difference. "You get what you pay for",indeed.

Of course this guy aint even gonna shell out for a cheapie cat.

OP just put black tape over the light. If youre not going to fix it right, why bother trying to discconect the light, easier to just cover it up.

Not suggesting they are the same, but it would be a cat and not just a test pipe and at just a little more then a test pipe would cost. 94
