92 Prelude speedometer not working and D4 light flashes
Hello all,
I have a 92 Prelude SI that the speedometer doesn't work and after I drive it a block or two the D4 indicator light on the instrument cluster starts flashing. I have replaced the speed sensor and tried 3 different speedometer clusters with no change. I am at my wits end with this thing. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I also replaced the trans solenoid that is on the top thinking that might fix my D4 light...wrong again!
Thanks!

check it for power, check the fuse. It will get power from fuse box under dash. Sends signal to ECU/cluster/cruise control/4ws. It will also have a ground.
Black/yellow or yellow will be power
Black is ground
Blue or orange is the output

I had this problem recently. No speedo, no odo, and the ECU (H22 w/P13 auto + P19 TCU) was in a limp mode to where the rev limiter would cut in at about 6300 and the VTEC wouldn't activate. Turned out I had an open on the ground side of the sensor. Must have screwed something up when I was experimenting with a wire tuck.
But are you sure that little drive link is in there? The tiny shaft with the fins on the bottom (tranny) end? I thought I was absolutely positive I had mine in, turns out it too was missing the whole time after I put the new sensor in. And what code is the D4 flashing? I don't know about Preludes, but in my Accord the connector you need to jump (I installed a convenient switch on my center console. Win!) is behind the kick panel on the right side of the passenger foot well.

The shaft is in the sensor. The D4 light starts a consistant blink when I have driven about a half a mile and will continue to blink a steady rate. I do not have a CEL. I have read elsewhere that I may need a fluid change with Honda Tranny fluid.
