Default A/C leak

My A/C leaked out cause whoever owned my car before had a hack job done, and some a/c lines were rubbing against part of the gear shifting assembly and busted a leak. My mechanic told me that i have to replace the a/c dryer because it was exposed to air. Is this true?

I also have to get a new hardline to replace the shitty kinked one. is it a dealer part only? mechanic wants to charge me 320 to replace/fix everything. Not too keen on that.

I can't tell you why you have to but anytime I've had my ac system opened up they always say to replace it so I'd say that's normal. Mechanics always charge a lot for ac stuff because the average person can't do it legally. That sounds about right assuming it includes the parts which it sounds like it does.
