Questions about chassis and specs...
OK... maybe it's my lack of internet speed or whatnot but I've noticed that many people choose the 88-91 (4th gen. EF chassis) HB over the 4 door. Is there a specific reason besides weight??? Also, can anyone give the weight difference??? I'm looking at building a 4-door 91 Civic but I would like to know as muc as I can before I make the final decision. One more thing... to take it from the automatic D16a1 and drop in a b18a1 MANUAL... what all would I have to do??? Thanks in advance people. If you would happen to have links or pics of similar topics all is invited.
the civic hatchback chassis is 7 inches longer in its wheelbase. i don't know how much longer the 4 door is. i don't think there is much more weight over a hatch or crx. as for the auto to manual topic this has been discussed many times. i have a basic idea of what is necessary, but i doubt i can answer everything exactly, so i will direct you towards the search function. please use it before posting questions.
Ouch... wrecked that hurt. Anyway, seeing that I can only post 5 times a day... I couldn't express that earlier. Wrecked I know the swap question was a redundant one, but since I've been on the site I haven't seen ANYONE ask about a sedan. I see the redundant CRX and HB question but looking under the hood of the sedan the d16a was pretty close to being as tight as my Focus. Which I thought would've been a legit question. I was wrong. Here's a way to solve redundant questions... make a post and (make it sticky so it stays on the top) that mentions what can swap into what and degree of difficulty. Also, to stop the ecu questions... make another sticky post about the ecu numbers (i.e. p30, p28, etc.) and mention what engine they came from and obd "version" they are. Sound good??? 1 post for today...
The engine bay in all the '88-'91 Civic/CRX vairants is essentially the same. The wiring's the same, the mounts are the same, etc. An EX sedan is equivalent to an Si hatch or CRX.

i think you just need to know where to look and learn. try spending some time surfing http://www.4thgenerationcivic.com and hybrid.honda-perf.org among other sites, and when you have specific quesions use the search button to look through the archives.
the search function could have answered all of the questions you just posted, without you having to make a new post. i know these answers because i have responded to all of them within the last week alone. please use the search function, you will learn more than if you just put up a question and had it answered. not trying to be hard on you, just trying to get you to do searches. they work.
