cracked sleeve? or how its made?
i bought a longblock that is sleeved i took the head off to check if it was sleeved and my freind said its cracked but i think its how the sleeve is made not 100% i would like to know b4 i got anyfurther on this build

Looks like it is cracked if you ask me, it goes all the way through the block guard but then again it could have just been made that way. Its a tough call hopefully someone with experience can help you a little more. Hope it was just made that way for you sake, good luck.

sorry best pics i could i can take more tomorrow i know the block guard is part of the sleeving itself and the guard is suppose to be like that im sure but idk bout the line in the cylinder walls
am i the only one who thinks he is talking about the line between the sleeves thinking they cracked???
to the OP, the sleeves are put in individually! so every sleeve is by itself and is not physicly attached to the next. this makes them seem 'loose' from eachother...

I think that might be what he is talking about lol
Yeah, the sleeves aren't cracked at all. look at everyone elses build threads or just go on google you'll see all oem and aftermarket sleeved blocks look like that.
the fact that the piston is cleaner than the others may be another issue ( headgasket, or sleeves installed incorrectly and not allowing the headgasket to seal correctly around that sleeve) But the sleeves themselves dont look cracked...the pictures do suck. What you have circled does not look like a cracked sleeve. The block guard are attached to the sleeves not too each other so there should be a line where they meet up
yea the headgasket was bad im just gettting ready to put everything back together and one of my idiot friends pointed it out and it just scared me lol ive never had a sleeved block im taking more pictures right now i was hoping it was how the sleeving was made, and so the sleeves are darton? the guy told me golden egale but idk how to tell
Yes those are darton mids from the looks of it... However depending on who installed the sleeves you could be changing the head gasket again...ensure both the head and block are completly flat with a straight edge and feeler gauge. if not then you should have block resurfaced(especially while you have the block out now). And hope they were installed correctly and you dont have a sunk sleeve. Was it a OEM headgasket?
no it has a 3 layer golden egale 85mm head gasket, and i can see that theyre individually placed but it looks like one is starting to break apart i guess im not sure how to tell. my friend said its just starting to crack but he doesnt work on hondas so im not sure. i took pictures but its really hard to see what he is talking about i might just have to get it looked at cause my camera sucks
could you tell me how its normal? i dont see why it would only look like that in #4 and not the others at first i thought my friend was talking about the lines then i can see theyre individually places but the one looks like its starting to seperate i guess im not sure.
and thanks guys for all the help its much appreciated

it is hard to tell from those pictures, but yeah i believe its normal.
my benson block has the visible line between cylinders and they dont all line up perfectly. i have absolutely no issues and have been super happy with the block in the few years ive owned it
