when i turn on my air to defog it turns the ac on too. how do i disable this. i have a 99 civic coupe. my freind has the same car and his ac doesnt come on when he switches to defog. any help? thanks

 

are you in full defrost or partial? full defrost should engage the ac compressor to dehumidify the inside air and reduce fogging of the windshield. then you'd control the temp with the slider.

 

It's normal.

 

Just hit the AC button and it will go off.

 

my car was stolen. after i got it back i had to replace my positive battery terminal and my 80amp battery fuse. just saying. because before it was stolen i never had this happen before. but once i turn to defog and the ac comes on, i turn the air direction to somthing else and it leaves the ac on. its just annoying me is all

 

you prob didnt notice it before but all civics are set up this way, your friends car has something wrong with it.

 

its not just civics....I have 2 other models/makes...all of em do it.

^That's understandable. Glad you got it back! I wish this had a toggle, though. My WRX does the same thing, and sometimes I forget it's on defrost, which means I'm always running my AC.
