Lowered or stock height?
If you're trying to slam it with those wheel widths and not rub fenders, go with 215/45-18 front and 225/40-18 rear. Otherwise, 225/40-18 front and 245/40-18 rear.

Just a heads up to toyomatt84, 215/40 is a perfectly good size for an 18x8.5 wheel. It is within a bunch of brands size range for that wide of a wheel. And 225/40 isn't unsafe for a 9.5, it's only one size under recommended fitment, which is not unsafe. if you can find any real sources saying that people have destroyed tires due to under sizing by 1 size, then please post it up. no need to delete peoples posts, this isn't communist russia. Just explain the risks rather than edit them completely.

If you don't like how this particular forum is run, then simply go somewhere else (keep in mind that there are several UNEDITED posts regarding low offset, wide wheels with stretched tires in the APPEARANCE forum). These rules have been in place for years, and that's how they'll stay.
PS. If this were a communist regime, there wouldn't be a forum at all. There'd just be a website telling you what you can buy from a list of very few selections. No discussion, no theory, just a site funneling you into a selection that isn't of your own choice.
This is not a topic that is up for debate. The risks that come with running unsafe tire sizes can make this site liable for information given.

215/40/18's are 3.55% too small for the car, which is a bit much for an acceptable tire size range. Yes, they'll fit an 8.5" wide wheel, but they won't be big enough for the car.
225/40/18's are rated for 7.5" - 9" wide wheels, which clearly isn't enough for his 9.5" wide rear wheels.

the rears will have very minimal stretch. and there are thousands of people on the road today with tires that have lasted their expected life span at that stretch. hes not planning on going with a 195 on that 9.5
this is what a 225/40 on a 9.5 looks like. the lip protector is still pretty much flush with the lip.

and 215/40 on an 8.5, looks pretty similar to me..
Yes Ill be Lowered. So im confused 215 front and 225 rear or 225 front and 235 rear?
you do understand this is a honda, not a ferrari or some super car that requires more precise fitment. if he is "3.55%" under the stock tire size, i know he'll be perfectly fine. thats gonna be a few mm's at best. please try and tell me that will mess with the car.

if you want absolute 100% backup from honda and the tire companies (for just the rear) then go with toyomatt84's suggestion. but they will look thick, more of a track look.
if you dont mind undersizing by 1 size in the rear for the look posted above. then go with my sizes. the tire company wont support you if early faults happen on the rears, but the fronts will be within spec range. if you really need more info on that minor stretch and want some people to tell you their experiences then go over to the appearance forum and post up what sizes youre looking at. im personally running 215/40/18's on my 8.5's all around. never had any issues and im going on 30k miles with them.

Also, your opinions aside, what car he's referencing is entirely irrelevant. Yugo or Pagani, its still not safe practice to run tires that are not up to the safety regulations of neither the tire manufacturer, nor the automotive manufacturer. Furthermore, you never have entire knowledge of somebody's well-being (unless you somehow have psychic foresight to see the rest of their lives play out, before they happen). Considering the manufacturers have tested a specific range of configurations, and you're advising to go outside their advisable range is a complete contradiction to your statement "I know he'll be perfectly fine".
Anyways, I advise you to take a quick gander at the rules for this forum and move on. This is no longer a debate I will participate in. I'll just delete further posts regarding ill-advised practices.
