questions bout rebuilt
Yeah I would have it rebuilt since when you buy a used motor you could be buying something you already have--a motor that needs rebuild.
Even if you hear it run and runs real good, the sucker can go teats up in a month, happened to me.
You want to save some money then do what i do: Take the head off and take it to a machine shop to get new valve seals and refreshed.
Disassemble the shortblock and take the block to be honed and cleaned, the pistons/connecting rods to have them refreshed and have them install new rings and have them install the pistons into the block. Have the crankshaft refreshed and then take it all home (handle the block sideways so the pistons will not fall out) then place the block upside down (so the pistons won't fall out) on a clean flat surface get a helms manual and begin to assemble the whole engine. You will need bearings etc its all in the manual or you can pay and arm and a leg and get it all done at the machine shop.

Yea then you can't rebuild it with a hole lol Just use the B18b and have a shop or machine shop (machine shop prefered) measure everything and make sure it's to spec.

If it threw a rod, chances are the bottom end is toast. If the rod cracked the block casting, recycle it and move on. Having said that, I would NEVER rebuild a B18A/B unless you were planning to build it for boost/NA/whatever. Those bottom ends, and even long-blocks, are a dime a dozen ... buy another one and swap it.
Not worth it...buy another engine and find someone to swap it for you if you can't do it yourself. You'll be surprised how much work you can get done with a case of beer and a few friends
