I'm planning to buy this honda s2000 tomorrow but i just notice in the carfax that it had a Differential and transfer case service on it. Is it a good idea to still buy the car because i'm sure it was in some kind of accident but i cant tell even when i was there. Can anyone explain any reason if there was a Differential and transfer case service, like can an accident done that or just rough driving.

Have the car looked at by Honda for a Pre-Purchase Inspection before buying it.

 

its from a Chevrolet dealership and it has a Drivability/performance checked,Wiring repaired,Differential and transfer case serviced.

 

You're worried about the differential being serviced and not wiring being repaired?

The dealership should have no problems allowing you to have the vehicle inspected at a neighboring Honda dealership. The Pre-Purchase inspection is like $70 around me and they will go over as much as they can then give you a report. I'd suggest doing it before buying a potential headache.

 

on the carfax it also says VIN glass etching at 3 miles is there any reason to suspicious about that?

 

Dude, google what any thing is b4 u ask, glass etching is an anti theft thing. if your car is stolen and any of the glass shows up. insurance pays you more or something like that. cant member exactly what my insurance company said when i had it done.

it just puts your vin on all the pieces of glass

and yes your diff was serviced. most of um are. just post the car fax up here and we will let u know what it says.


it sounds to me like the car is fine and u are just worring too much or u just dont know what you are talking about. sorry to seem harsh but its the truth.

Both owners bought and resold it back to the same dealer something seems off to me but i kind of want this car.

 

Why does it seem odd to sell a car back to the dealership where it was purchased? It seems kinda normal amongst individuals that buy cars and only own them for a couple years.

I will apologize ahead of time if this is rude or offensive to any one. But how do some many people get S2000's that aren't old or horribly beat up. Or nice cars in general. Who gives them money, do they have rich parents? Because I seriously doubt with the level of inteligence some of us possess that there are any earned college degrees or employment of any sophistication.

OP, in your case maybe you just don't know anything about cars, and are looking for advice. But a brief skim through carfax it looks fairly nice and maintained. Good luck, if it is problem free and you do decide to purchase it, I'm sure you'll love it.

Sounds like it was sold to a leasing company and then used for short term leasing. At least the services were performed and noted so that the warranty remained in effect.

 

sometimes people buy/lease a car in their business name for the the tax write off.

 

The diff service was just maintenance done.

When you look at the carfax look for accidents reported, salvage titles, flood damage etc.

 

like i said you obviously need to maintaint the differential on a RWD and AWD car DUh jeez guy if you ask so many questions dont get into an S2k until you learn something about cars
