Icon6 97 integra LS timing belt broke, replaced, wont start

ok, so there really isnt enough room in the title to give this whole thing a good explanation. The timing belt broke as i was driving. got it replaced and when I cranked the engine, all it did was sputter. Turns out 2 of the exhaust valves were bent. got those fixed and had new valve stem seals put in. I put the head on got the timing belt back on (made sure, as far as i know, to get the marks lined up on the cams with the back cover). there is fuel getting into the cylinders. The plugs are wet after i crank it over. new plugs too btw. Checked the dizzy and im getting good hot sparks. When i turn the engine over it just pops and sputters. Im kind of at a loss as to what to check now. I also have run a compression check since i got the head in and im getting a reading of 95 across the board. could I still have the timing off? i just have no idea what to go after next. Any help would be awesome. thanks everyone

Low compression indicates that timing is off.

Take all of the timing covers off if you can, and match the crank pulley single white mark with the arrow on the oil pump (also on the cover). This is Number 1 cyl at TDC. Then put the cams so the arrows point up (sort of towards the exhaust with the way the motor is angled in the engine bay) and there are 2 little marks on the cam gears that should match up in the center.

You should be able to find the Integra helms manual for free on the net. Goes into good detail on this procedure

ok so i got it fixed. i ended up having to take it to the shop (mostly because i needed and i didnt get the information on here quite as fast as i needed, no offense to anyone). THey said it was off 1 tooth on the exhaust cam and apparently the firing order was reversed. I have the haynes manual and it appears as though they have the firing order wrong. or i guess its possible i read it wrong. ANYway, its up and running and set me back about $500. over a frickin timing belt. (i just added it up for the first time and im now very pissed at myself for not being able to figure it out)

thanks for your help all

having a similar prob on my fiance's dc4. changed t-belt and water pump. Set everything at tdc (or so I thought), buttoned it all up, cranked it over, no start. sounds like its trying, and whole motor is shaking hard. Im getting spark and fuel. Tore it down again and found the up arrows on the cam sprockets facing down. I had set crank pulley to the wrong mark. It was a bdc. Corrected the problem, car still wont start. Any help? Did I bend valves possibly? or am I just missing something?

I'll preface this by saying I have never had to replace a timing belt before, but if it was at bdc when it was supposed to be at tdc it does seem very possible that you could have bent a valve(s). Have you tried doing a compression or leakdown test?
