type-r with aftermarket sunroof?
im looking to pick up a local white type-r that an older lady has owned for the past 6 years. only problem with the car is the sunroof. they had a aftermarket one installed for idk what stupid reason. if i pick the car up, how much less should i offer since they ruined the car by adding a sunroof. also how much will it cost to remove it?
vin starts with jh4dc231 and everything else is legit. i checked for every possible replica part including the rear subframe bracing.
im wondering if its worth the money picking it up to keep it or just to part it out

sisters bf cutout his sunroof area on his GSR out for an RS one and wielded it in less than a day..
then again he is a certified wielder =P
Also, the repaint for the roof wasnt that much either. Think he only spent +/- 200ish total for everything.
I wouldnt buy it just to part it out.. imo that is just a complete waste of a perfectly good car
Also, i dont think they will completely agree with you that they ruined the car if they wanted the sunroof on the car. Im not so sure they would give you a lower price for that reason but i guess its worth a try. Its kinda like buying ice cream, getting an extra free scoop of ice cream for no reason, then asking the ice cream man to make it cheaper because you didnt want that free scoop =P

Like everybody said just replace the roof skin it is very easy to do just need a good spot weld cutter I did it in my civic I had a dx and put a si roof in it
I could imagine that proposing to the owner the idea that the sun roof takes away from the value of the car would be easy for them to argue as they ignorant to the fact that part of what makes the ITR special is that it doesn't have a sun roof. I've been through the argument before and I couldn't get them to see my perspective.

Most people unfortunately would see the addition of a sunroof, even aftermarket, as a plus. It'd be difficult to talk them into dropping the price over it.
Either pass it up and let someone else take it or pick it up and repair it. I wouldn't part the car out just because it has one flaw which could be fixed. I've seen ITRs in worse shape come back to life.

do your research on the car it may be a car that was featured in honda tunning(i think) many years ago. The car i am thinking of had spy lights or something crazy. It also had a sun roof.
Double check the VIN to make sure it is legit.
Also, didn't the R's have extra support welded in? What about the roof, if so an aftermarket sunroof would compromise it right?

There's a PY R around that has one too. I've seen pictures here on HT. Definitely people around that prefer to have them over not having them. If you don't want to go through the hassle of replacing the roof skin then it may be better (on the pocket/time) to just find another caR. If you're willing to do the work, then roof skins can be found for cheap on wrecked/parted out caRs, and as stated above you can find them brand new from Acura.
If the caR is complete otherwise, I wouldn't even consider parting it out.
Good luck on your quest to ITR ownership

She could even know that it's a special or uncommon car but not know that they don't come with sunroofs or not understand why adding one is usually frowned upon.
Most people don't even seem to know how to tell the difference between OE and aftermarket sunroofs.
