How to remove and install windshield on 96-2000 civic
some low life with nothing to look forward to in the future broke my windshield. I don't really have any money to pay someone $150 to replace it. Can someone point me to a good tutorial on how to remove a windshield and install it? or at least how to remove it. I'm planning on going to the junkyard soon to pick a window out. i would appreciate it if someone helped guide me. thanks

- get a piano string or a steel wire, pierce through underneath the windshield on the side into the interior.
- wrap one end of the wire on a wrench for one person to pull it from inside and do the same for the other person on the outside.
- use a sawing motion to cut the seal all around. Once done two guys can remove the glass.
- clean old sealant and get a roll of a new one ( bead of black tacky stuff).
- place a new windshield on...I used wood cleats on the bottom to rest the bottom of the windshield and use a motion just like you close a hood to put it down. Press it gently all around.
- may need to use a clear silicone to make the old trim adhere correctly.
Good luck!
I have not taken the windshield or trim off a 96-00, but I know the 92-95 has clips holding the trim on.
I have seen 3M Window Weld at Autozone, Farm&Fleet and online. It's like what the glass shops use.
I too need to replace my windshield. Before I got the car, someone shot the car with a BB gun. I already fixed the areas on the metal, but the glass has a few chips. What it looks like needs done is carefully removing the trim, use a wire to cut both glasses out and just glue the new one in.
