Default Tri Y to Apexi N1?

Hello, I am trying to fit a Tri Y header and my Apexi N1 exhaust together. There is a sleeve that comes out of the end of the header that wont go inside the exhaust. Can I just cut this part off and bolt them together? Is it bad to go from 3 inch to 2.5 inch?

Also the Apexi N1 has three pieces will I use all three on my BB6? One of them has three bolt holes instead of two...

It's because the header isn't made to be used with a factory catalyst and the exhaust is. Easiest solution if you want to keep that exhaust is to have a pipe made to join the 2 so that in case you want to pull 1 or the other off to sell they wont be ruined from being welded together. You should also add a flex pipe in between the 2 as well.

Thank you. A couple hours later and quite a few more beers and I found this out. I was sitting on my bed for hours drinking beer and trying to make that header fit that exhaust :D
Now to find a exhaust shop that will make that pipe I need and not say anything about my missing cat...
