Icon3 Problem with my 96 Accord when it's cold! Please help!

In the mornings when it's a little chilly outside and when I start my car and turn my lights on, sometimes the check engine light comes on and it bogs down and wants to die. Sometimes it does die and when I turn it back on the light is off and it's fine. Please help me! Lol I don't know what could be causing this but it seems like it only does it when it's cold and I turn my lights on because it's normally dark when I head to work.

Get the codes....

From there, limited information so, I'd ask about tune up items. When was the last time the FITV checked/adjusted. Ever clenaed the tb or IAC.

Idle speeds when first started cold should approach 1300rpm with it gradually stepping down to 750 (ideally). Putting the lights on should NOT impact such a load that the computer (PCM in this car) can't compensate. You could have either a coolant temp sensor or an o2 sensor going south but you really should have a scanner look for codes.
I don't subscribe to the "replace things until it's fixed" method; you shouldn't either :-)

Agreed, I don't think I suggested to replace anything...cleaning things maybe...the question about normal maint items was just trying to figure out if they are up to date....hate to chase something when the last tune up was 100k miles ago
