Icon3 92 Integra delay before turning over.

As I turn they key to turn over the engine there is a delay before the engine actually turns over. Sometimes it will be a 1 second delay or longer. Or sometimes it wont start at all. But as soon when it does crank over it turns on like nothing is wrong. I have recently replaced the main relay and the distributor. Do any of you have any ideas of what it could be. Or any recommendations of what to replace or check.

that is a good question, mine does the same thing, what I do is turn the key, wait until the dash lights turn off, then fire her up, starts every time. My car has done it as long as I can remember.

Same here, i think its just the safety switch that allows your car to start when you push the clutch down. Cause mine only starts when i turn the key all the way trying to start it, then i push the clutch pedal down and let it off pretty hard, and doing that a few times usually does it for me. This just started to happen in mine maybe this month

Its probably your ignition switch. I had the same problem, it got longer and longer to start and eventually it wouldnt even start and left me stranded. Replaced that and haven't had a problem and its been a year now. Easy to replace, unless you have an alarm wired into it.

im having the same issue.. but i did a b18c1 swap in my civic..

the issue im having is on certain days ill notice that when i try and start the car it either has a delay of about 1 to 3 seconds to about sometimes 10 seconds.. even to the point where ide have to wait cause it would not turn over..

i upgraded my fuel pump to a walbro 255 i believe.. and my igintion system is an MSD with an external coil..

i notice i do get bogging at low even high RPMS.. and sometimes i have erratic idel issues, where the RPMS drop VERY LOW to where it almost stalls and then i notice the ECU picks it self up and goes back to 1000RPMS.

from what ive been reading it could be either the ignition switch or the ECU itself..

any thoughts guys ???
thx

i have a problem with my 90 integra ls , every morning or in other words cold start, because at work after not starting my car for atleast 3 hours it has a delay like it wont start it cranks fine, lights turn on fine, everything that has to do with it starting it fine or i would think....im assuming it would be my fuel pump

Also could be your starter on the way out. Same symptoms in my 90 Integra, one day it just wouldn't start.

You can always jump the starter from the battery and see if it has a delay. That's how I would always test my starter if it was going bad.
