LS valve lash results.... 12 valves out of spec
Man, my valves were really out of spec. I left the car parked overnight.
Intake is 0.08mm-0.12mm
All 8 of the intake valves were > 0.12mm, so I had to reduce the clearance
As for exhaust valves, I believe it was 0.16mm-0.21mm
4 were fine
3 were too tight < 0.16mm, no feelers fit
1 was too loose >0.21mm
why the heck is my **** so out of wack! I heard that hondas usually loosen over time, but 3 of my exhaust valves tightened up, good thing I didnt burn an exhaust valve.
Anyways, do you guys gget similar results on your valve lashes? This is the first time the car has seen one since I owned it (3 years now), and ive put 38,000 kms on it.... It was about time for one. The book recommends 15,000 miles (24,000km) or 1 year, whichever is first.... I'm sure if I did it every year Id have only 1-4 out of spec, but can anyone share their stories? I can't believe 12 out of 16 were out of spec

Why are you linking me this?
I know how to check valve clearance, I'm just wondering if anyone has any comments on my results.
I'm curious to see how many valves are out of spec when other members do their lash and maybe if they all loosen or tighten over time. First time doing it for this car, and the book recommends once a year.... Does anyone actually do this once a year?

Why do you think that the person who did mine (which was me) did them incorrectly? You mean previously? Or the time I did it now.

GSR engine, so apples to oranges comparison, but mine were still exactly in the middle of the range when checked at 45k miles (by me), and still exactly in the middle of the range at 88k (checked by trusted mechanic). 90k miles on the car, no valve "adjustment" needed so far...
Now, if the previous owner didn't adjust them correctly, that could explain why some are loose and others tight. Honestly, these are one of those things that one should never trust the previous owner to have done correctly (or at all). Never trust a previous owner.

They're always within spec, if they are off it's not even by much. If you did them and they are off then I would question you. Not saying you're not mechanically inclined but my first time ever doing a valve adjustment and checking up on it a few months later they were still fine.

make sure the nuts for the adjustment are torqued to correct spec..i think 10ft? To the guy who changes it every oil change......you probably do MORE damage to your car than you think. The head is expose to small debris every time.
if you dont drive your car hard and even if you do, you normally dont have to do a valve adjustment for 100k miles. I hear some darn quiet integras with 100-200k miles that never had a valve adjustment. Got mine done at 81k even though she was whisper quiet, now at 122k, she is still super quiet.
