What is play to you? The pedal wiggles from side to side? Does it go to low? Im guessing it brakes fine? Is it soft pedal hard pedal?

V-8 who, pedal play is that wiggle room before the master cylinder is actuated and it can be adjusted.
I'm guessing you are talking about a soft pedal. I would suggest replacing the master cylinder if you're positive you have no air in the system.

If you are sure that there isn't any air in the system do this!
Before starting the car pump the brake pedal untill it will become hard.Hold the pedal down (even if it goes low) and note if the pedal sinks slowly. If no,make sure the front brakes don't have a seized up sliders.Post after.

what i mean by excessive play is that the pedal almost touches the floor before the brakes actually start to engage......

Sliders are also known as slide pins that the caliper use on. They need to get grease up every time you get a brake job done; otherwise, it can rust up and seized. That will cause the front brakes to not be able to move.

There is a possibility your BMC has an internal leak. There is a rubber seal/gasket inside of it that over time can wear down. When you push the break (moving the plunger) the brake fluid just seeps past the seal and back into the reservoir instead of through the lines. If you haven't replaced the BMC, I'd recommend picking up a new OEM Honda one (not a unknown condition reman). They are like $140 from the dealership. When you swap it out (really easy, ~20 mins) you can adjust the brake plunger for free play as well.

Correct, you do need to bench bleed it before installation.

There's your problem.
Be it disc or drum, if the rear brakes are out of adjustment the pedal will be long. Do you have rear discs or drums? How is your parking brake handle? Does it go up all the way and still not properly holding the car? If discs and the hand brake was rarely used the adjusters may be seized requiring caliper rebuild/replacement. Drums adjusters don't seize per say, they wear out and can no longer ratchet or get a bit gummed up if not kept clean.
