Default Question, Clutch Issue?

Hello everybody

I am a returning user on this forum and had to recreate a sign in. Anyways I have attached a video where the issue arises. Here's the scenario:

Driving in traffic I need to quickly change lanes and I'm in 4th gear so I push the gas about half way... RPMs shoot up but no receive no acceleration.

This happens most noticeable in 3rd-6th gear. In the video attached I start out in 4th gear and hit the gas... then 4th gear again... then 5th and 6th... Long story short I would like to verify this is the issue... any help is greatly appreciated!!

Also I am doing research on getting a nice performance clutch (for dd) and possible lightweight flywheel, does anybody have a suggestion? Again thanks in advanced!!

Heres a couple links to watch the video just in case one does not work!

From what I read, it sounds like the clutch is slipping. Probably the original clutch at 103k miles...so it's about time. The OEM clutch is actually made better than a lot of performance clutches unless you're talking about spending $1400+.

B Serious is almost definitely correct. OEM clutch is a very good one to put back on.

Depends on your goals though..

Exact same thing happened to me during autocross. But in 2nd gear.

Chances are you're still getting decent clamping pressure during non aggressive starts.

You're probably just into the rivets on your clutch disc. If you stop driving now, you can probably save your flywheel with just getting it re-surfaced instead of replacing it. Disc, pressure plate, and bearings should all be replaced though.

I do plan on doing some light modification to the car but nothing extravagant just gonna do the NA thing... but as far as the trying to save the flywheel it might b too late for that... lol considering that this is my DD and here in florida its been raining all the time... and my only other mode of transportation is my motorcycle i might b screwed lol wonder how much an OEM Clutch / flywheel is going for...

Well, you won't know until you get it all apart. I thought it was a pain in the *** because the bell housing using both forward and reward facing bolts.

If your flywheel is within spec and not too gouged-up, you can probably save it. Unless you'd rather just buy new.

looks and sounds like a clutch issue to me. maybe try a mixed setup. stock disc and a slightly upgraded pressure plate.

+1 on the upgraded pressure plate. But not crucial at all if you're just daily driving. I would go with a full OEM replacement kit from exidy or ACT.

While I don't have first hand experience, they say that most "puck" clutches chatter, don't bite well, and are noisy. But that's just the forums talking.

spec is a OK off brand. i have heard of a few issues with them, mainly with the hardware they supplied like a bad throwout bearing. regardless of whatever clutch you get use a factory honda throwout bearing. if you are looking for a good replacement stick with exedy IMO.

puck clutches do chatter. i use a comp 6 puck stage 4 and its is fairly rough. definetly a off/on clutch. no give on take off. takes getting used to and i still occasionally stall the car as i dont drive it often enough to train my feet the release/engage points.

anything not OEM or any of the majors such as act, exedy, comp, clutchmaster i consider offbrand stuff. commonly found on ebay is offbrand usually.
