Default A/C fan only comes on when I take the key out

When I turn my key to accessory as if I were starting the car, everything is normal. When I turn the key back off the a/c fan comes on. When I turn the key back to accessory it shuts off again. All my fuses are good, I didn't mess with my wiring, the fan timer is fine. I can not figure out what would be causing my fan to only come on when I take the key out. It does this without the car ever being started or being warm. Any help guys??? Thanks

Do you mean the A/C condensor fan?

If so does it come on when A/C is on?

MM&Y of car? 94

Yea that fan. I haven't turned the a/c on cause I haven't recharged it yet.
My car is a 92 integra obd1 b16a sir2

Let me try and make this simple. The fan comes on (engine cold) when I turn the key off after being in accessory. When I unplugged the radiator fan timer the fan stopped running, I plugged the timer back in and the fan stayed off, until I turned the key from accessory to off again, and thats when it came back on. Now when that timer is plugged in and the fan is running I can tap on the timer and get the fan to shut off. I timed the fan and it stays on for way longer then 10 minutes. I'm thinking that radiator fan timer is bad, any ideas?

I changed out the fan timer with 2 i got from the junkyard. Neither of them fixed the problem....any other ideas? It's the fan infront of the a/c compressor thats doing it, the other fan is working fine

Maybe the problem is the EOTS.

Try this, unplug the EOTS, or depin the white/green lead from the rad fan control module.

Not even sure why USDM G2s even have an EOTS or RFCM, the CDM G2 does not have them. 94

Sorry....

If it is not the Rad Fan Control Module, [fan timer] then maybe it is the Engine Oil Temperature Switch, it "triggers" the RFCM, to keep fan on if engine oil is "hot" when ign. is turned off.
Unplug the EOTS, by just de-pining the terminal with the white/green lead from the RFCM plug, if that's not the problem, you have at least eliminated the EOTS and the lead from it to the RFCM as the problem.

CDM = Canadian Domestic Market, the Canadian version of the your 92 Acura Integra, [G2] does not have the RFCM or EOTS, not sure why you have them and we do not, but I bet you a doller Acura USA sold a lot more EOTSs and RFCMs to replace "broken" ones $$$KACHING$$$$ then Acura Canada did. 94

There is only one wire coming out of my eots and it's orange and white or pink and white, it's hard to tell. If I undo the white and green wire from the fan timer what result am I looking for? Should the fan keep running or should it not run?

I unhooked that white and green wire and plugged in a new rfcm thing i got from the junkyard and the fan stays off until i touched the green and white wire back together. What does that tell me?

Well I am confused, my wiring diagram shows the EOTS as having a black, [ground] and a white/green lead, [to RFCM], the only sensors with one lead that are close to what your saying is the Knock Sensor red/blue, [only found on the GS-R] and the Engine Oil Pressure Switch yellow/red.

So we are on the same page with wire colors, first is the wire color and the second is the tracer color...
white/green = white wire with a green tracer, [line/stripe].
red/green = red wire with a green tracer.
red/blue = red wire with a blue tracer.

Is there a red/yellow lead at the RFCM?

"the fan stays off until i touched the green and white wire back together. What does that tell me?"

That would indicate EOTS is closed/on, [engine oil is hot], the EOTS is a simple SPST, [single pole single throw] on/off switch, it supplies a ground to the RFCM when engine oil is hot enough to close, [turn on] the EOTS, use a multimeter to test the switch, with engine cold there should be no continuity to ground on the white/green lead, but that kinf of depends on what color your EOTS lead is. 94

The thing i'm looking at is one single red and yellow wire (red with a yellow stripe) It's to the left of the oil filter and it's the only other thing back there in that area. I working around the problem by running a ghetto switch to shut the fan off when I turn the car off. Now my issue is the a/c compressor isnt kicking on unless I jump it straight to the battery. It's getting 6 volts when I have the a/c button off and only 2 volts when I have the button on. I know it's off topic now, but i'm sooo sick of electrical stuff man.

Oh fyi : The motor is an obd1 b16a sir2 so maybe it has a different color for that oil thing so maybe thats why it's red and yellow

What year of Civic/DelSol is SIR 2 engine out of?

The Civic engine does not have an EOTS, the Civic did not have the RFCM.
The sensor with the single yellow/red lead is the EOPS, [Engine Oil Pressure Switch], it has nothing to do with the condensor fan.

The condensor fan on the Civic was controled by the solid state A/C switch output, ["low current" ground, blue/red lead] through the A/C thermostat and out the,[blue/white]to the condensor fan relay and the A/C pressure switch, from the relay it is 12V+ out to the fan and from the A/C pressure switch it is still a low current ground to the ECU/ECM that would then turn on the A/C compressor clutch relay

The condensor fan on your Integra was controlled by the A/C switch, [normal "high current" ground, output is also red/blue] through the A/C pressure switch then through the A/C Thermostat, then through the A/C Diode to the condensor fan relay, the A/C Thermostat output also goes to the ECU/ECM, the output of the RFCM, [blue/red] is paralleled with the output of the A/C Diode that goes to the condensor fan relay

I assume...
Engine and engine harness are B16A, correct?
Dash harness/RFCM harness are still 92 Integra, correct?
Some "mods" where made to connect the B16a engine harness to the Integra dash harness, correct?

The control systems a completely diff., you may need to do some rewiring to get it all working properly, you do not have the EOTS so you can probably remove the RFCM, not needed.

What ECU/ECM or you using?
In both cars the A/C compressor clutch is controled by the ECU/ECM through the A/C clutch relay, and the condensor fan is controled by the A/C switch, although differantly. 94

It ended up being a bad relay which I tested 3 times and it kept saying it was good. Thanks for all the help man, I really appreciate it. You're the only person who was able to give me any useful info
