Default brake light indicator is on

I have a 2000 Honda Accord sedan.

I noticed that my brake light indicator is on while I was driving then after a while of driving it turns off by itself. I checked my brake fluid, it's just below the max line and seems like everything is good to go. I also notice that if I warm up my car for 5-10mins before driving it, the brake light indicator never turns on.

Can anyone help me with this. Thank you.

It may be the master cylinder reservoir filter and possibly the float.

Are the bulbs out? On some older accords the bulbs are dual filament. One filament is for braking and the other for "parking" lights

I have the same problem on my 94 but the light is dim and then when I pull the E-break up it gets brighter. I thought it might have been my break sicking or the switch but I didnt smell breaks burning after driving. I cant figure out what the problem is!

I think it might be my fluid. It doesnt look low enough to trigger a sensor or anything but im going to add some tomorrow and see if that helps

tail lights or brake lights....if brake lights, check the switch but more than likely it is the "stopper/plg" the swithc makes contact with...see any strange plastic pieces in the floor board?

I'm sorry if I sound like a dolt, but are we speaking of the "Brake System Warning Lamp", the "ABS System Warning Lamp" or the "Bulb Out Warning System" located in the Speedo Quadrant ?

If we're speaking of the "Brake System Warning Lamp", it can be affected by (yes) the Master Cylinder Reservoir sensor; But it can also be affected by a mis-adjusted Emergency Brake.
