My 2000 honda civic DX auto will not start. I have spark, it has gas. it turns over. just wont fire. Checked timing and its on. Plus I believe its an interference engine so if it jumped time I would/should have noticed. I do have low compression in cylinder 4 it comes in at 145, the rest are right around 210. I do have a cracked exhaust manifold, but that shouldn't matter. Any Ideas?

 

How did you check for spark and fuel? Are your plug wires in the correct order?

 

i have the same issue rite now.. imma tow it to a mechanic tomorrow... have u check ur dizzy?

 

I have not messed with the order of the plug wires prior to this issue, so I am sure that the plug wires are in the correct order. I checked for fuel by by removing the fuel line connected to the fuel rail and had a buddy bump the key, plenty of fuel flows out. I checked for spark by pulling a plug and grounding it to a bolt on the heatshield for the exhaust manifold.

 

What color is the spark? Could be weak. Have you pulled a plug to see if its burning the fuel or if the plugs are fouled? Have you check to see if the timing belt is broken?

 

If the timing belt was broken the dizzy would not turn, and there would be no spark. No the spark is weak. it looked good.

 

Why ignore low compression in cyl 4?

 

Come tax time I am gonna do the mini me swap or do a b16a2 swap and manual swap. I just need it to get me through till then. even with low compression in one cylinder with 3 good ones it should still fire right?

 

If spark is bright white at all 4 plugs, all 4 fuel injectors spray fuel, and the mechanical timing is dead on, then the low compression in cyl 4 is the best explanation.

 

We got the thing to start. put plugs, wires, cap and rotor. This will get me threw until mini me swap time.
