so i have a 99 civic hatch with power steering and i believe it leaking from the rack inside the bellow boot. from what i see, i believe it the seal inside the rack. so my question is should i just replace the seal or the whole rack? the price difference in the rack(110) and seal(70) isn't much but the labor is a huge difference. my only concern is if i change the seal only will that be okay long term since it my dd. have anyone has this issue before and just fix it by changing the seal?


also i was checking on estore honda and the seal only come in a set IF there is a place that sell just the seal can u post a link or let me know the place.

honestly i would just replace the entire rack. since its ur daily im assuming theres a some mileage on it and u may pay less for the seal but what happens if the other seal starts leaking ur going to be paying labor again. just my $.02

 

^I concur. Plus replacing that seal will be a HUGE pain in the butt. I would just do the whole rack for only 40 bucks more.

 

In my area, you pay about $270 for a rebuilt rack after reimbursement for the core charge.

 

thanks for the input guy. i will be doing the labor myself just want to ask if anyone had this issue and just replaced the seal only. labor itself is easy. the seal is right there once u take off the bellow boot which i believe that the seal that preventing the fluid from leaking.
