Default Synthetic BACK to conventional oil?

What are the ramifications of this? Good? Bad? After the oil thread I read the other day, I'd like to switch to Castrol GTX from Mobile 1 Tri-Synthetic. Is this possible, or do I run the risk of assorted problems inside my engine?

i personally switched to castrol from mobil one because b/t track events my car never is driven hard. Plus I save some $$ for not having to buy mobil 1. So i say its ok. I use synthetic only when I know i'll be driving hard at an event.

There really is no problem with doing that. I too read the entire oil thread and I ended up just using mobil 10-30 non-synthetic.

It's very possible. I've swayed a large number of friends to castrol gt-x from mobil 1 and no have had problems. I have a lot of castrol gt-x miles on my motor and it's still strong as fug and clean

ive gone back to regular oils as well. Mobils were too thin and I was burning too fast. Regs have slowed it down until I can get the valve guide SEALS punched out when I send it out for the P&P

If you want to be cautious. Buy a case of cheapo 10w30 and engine flush, then flush your motor completely of the old synthetic oil.
