Default Use shims on aftermarket brake pads?

What's the deal with aftermarket brake pads - am I supposed to use OEM shims with them, or no shims are necessary?

You can go either way. I like to not use them with road race pads. They are going to squeal anyways, so why bother?

I stopped using them on my OEM pads too. Just apply the anti-squeal to the back of the pad directly.
