Icon2 D16Y7 - high and surging idle when engine is cold

Hey HT I need your help on something. I have an 94 civic ex with a D16Y7 and the idle on it everytime I start is kind of high, I can't really tell what rpm it is at cause I have an EX cluster with no tach I recently replaced the IACV thinking that was the problem yet it still idle surges but eventually when it warms up everytime it starts it goes away and idles back to normal. What do you guys think I would have to do or check out? PM me if needed

Does your throttle body have an fast idle thermo valve?

Odd, so someone did a motor swap into a 94 EX? You do realize a 1994 Civic EX is a VTEC while the D16y7 is a non vtec, right?

Yes the previous owner swapped in a Y7 out of all things lol. And thats really weird because mine engages vtec. And i cleaned my engine bay the other day and I noticed that its a Y7.

Must have a y8 head.

Or your idea of "vtec" is much different than mine

Sounds like an FITV problem, if you have one.

It's also important to know whether or not the D16Y7 is completely stock and what ECU is installed.

Any CEL codes?

yeah we need to know if he has the original EX manifold or it's a complete Y7 engine including the newer manifold.
