Default Synthetic BACK to conventional oil?

What are the ramifications of this? Good? Bad?

not a problem.

'94 gs-r probably means high mileage. you would probably benefit from running Valvolene MaxLife high mileage oil...5w30.

Regardless of any engine, you'll be fine. I do not know why you would switch to dino-based though, especially on a GS-R engine. And I do not recommend you use 5W30. I would stick to 10W30 due to the fact that it is normally more shear-stable at higher RPMs than the 5W30 (there are exceptions though).
