Electrical issues, alternator, ground, starter WTF?
Hey i have searched my problem, TO DEATH, tried different things but i can't pinpoint the problem, for the life of me. I am hoping i am just retarded and missing something small, so maybe someone had or heard of a similar issue. The Car is a 2000 GSR. So it all started with my headlights dimming a little bit, etc, so i upgraded to an ultima yellow top, and that didn't solve ****. So then i thought maybe the alternator? It clicks only once when i turn the key. I checked the conection on the alternator terminal for starters, putting out 13.5v or more. But now it has gotten worse. It doesn't crank over. Just a click, for a while it started occasionaly after turning the key several times. I checked the clutch switch, safety switch etc. All working. Sometimes if i am driving under low rpms, the left headlight shuts off, and the stereo turns on and off at low rpms, or if it is turned up too loud. It has gotten to the point wher ei have to pop start the car to drive it... Which is a no go as it fails my POV inspection on base. I'm going to the auto skills center on base where i have access to lifts and any tool i could possibly need. Maybe a bad ground? Or several? Where should i check? I am pretty damn good at working on my car so no job is too hard, it just has been stumping the **** out of me. The battery reads 11.45 volts as the car sits now. Any suggestions? Or any other info needed to help someone diagnose? Thanks a million guys, i'm trying to get this thing in good shape before we deploy so i dont have to come back to a broke *** car.
