Default Clutch Pedal

Ok, so, I have a 2000 Honda Acord LX. F23a4 motor, 5 speed manual. Recently I've noticed that I need to let the clutch pedal out probably 7/8 of the way for the gears to engage most times. This has only been recently that I've noticed this. Now this is where it gets weird. If I pump the clutch pedal 5-10 times, the pedal feels stiffer and the friction point goes back to dead center in the range of the pedal travel just like it should be. From everything I've read and been told, if the clutch plate was worn down, then pumping wouldn't change a thing, and if either the master or the slave clutch cylinder was bad then the friction point would be really close to the floor and not really close to having the pedal almost all the way out. Does anyone here have any insight on what this could possibly be?

yeah man after looking into it i think that my clutch plate is worn and needs to be replaced. i looked at all the areas around my master and slave cylinders and not only are the cylinders in good condition (visually) but theres no fluid or anything around them either. so im pretty sure that my cylinders are ok. i thought that my pedal was misadjusted, but i looked into that too, everything is up to spec according to my haynes repair manual. from ruling out those other things it appears to me that i just need to do the **** work and pull the transmission to replace the clutch plates and flywheel. now i just have to make the decision do i wanna go with inexpensive oem replacement parts or spend more on something a little more durable.

if it feels better after you pump it... maybe it just needs to be bled? I just had to do my clutch...before i replaced it, pumping did not help...after i relaced it, i bled it and the fluid that came out was black! obviously was never flushed. It feels great now...I bought the kit and flywheel at advance auto parts for $160
