Default 94 cx hatch with B18a1 swap - Exhaust question

Nobody is answering in the hybrid forum so i figured I would bring the question here. I have a 94 cx hatch with a B18a1 swap. Was thinking of putting a full exhaust system on it and wasn't sure what to use. I know my buddy bought a header for his swapped eg and it didn't fit because it was to long as it was for a integra. Do any of you know what exhaust system to use or would it have to be a custom job?

Are you talking a cat back?

Do you still have a Cat?

You can have a shop mod one up or get a pre made one, I would go pre made, if it is cat back then just look up your car and model and look at different manufacturers. Also, see how loud you want it.

Do not go bigger than 2.25 pipes.

Well right now it doesn't have a cat. It has a really shotty job from the previous owner. Looks like they just took the cat out and welded a straight pipe were the cat should go but did a really crappy job. So i guess i was just looking to do a full exhaust system however i know its not going to fit right due to the motor swap. I'm kind of new to all of this so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

B series header, then exhaust system to fit the chassis of the vehicle. You may need minor custom exhaust work done since I have never done the swap myself, but I am sure an adjustable test pipe would work out well.

Ya hopefully a test pipe would work in there because i know my friend got a b18 header from one of his buddys and it didn't fit on my car because it was to long. Right now its just way to loud and sounds like crap so i'd defiantly like to try something else.

I swapped my b18b out of my 94 integra into a 92 eg.I used and integra header and 92 hatchback exhaust.no problems except for integra rear swar bar didn't fit until i bent it.But some axle back sections are of different bends. The piping is 2.5 inch also.Hope this helps.Peace and Chicken grease.

The guy that had it before me welded a straight pipe on it to get rid of the cat but the exhaust sounds horrible with an ebay muffler and that exhaust . So i was kind of thinking about doing the whole thing. I need to take a peak under there again whenever i get around to it. The cars in my parent's garage right now cuz the wheels got jacked so i can't really take a look at it.

find a cat that matches your b18 swap. then get an exhaust for your car, not your motor. you may need to cut and weld if its too long.

thats what i did on my swap.

You can use a header for 99-00 civic si, the ls has a taller deck but a shorter head so the header clears the oil pan. That way you can just use a general 92-00 civic catylitic converter and exhaust.

Would that be a factory exhaust manifold or aftermarket?

I also have one more question. The websites that I have looked at for cat back systems have them available for SI/EX models and DX models, which means they would have two different systems. Well my car is a CX so im just assuming I would probably need the DX model of whatever i decide to go with? Just dont want to get it and go to put it on and it doesn't fit.

it should fit, the difference with the two exhaust models is the length only. ex models have a cat after the header, while the dx models have the cat on the header. which makes the exhaust pipe longer for the dx and shorter for the ex. in your case, you have a cat on your header. but both exhausts will fit, youll probably have to cut and weld a new flange to bolt it on to your b18 cat anyways.

Or you could get a universal cat without flanges attached and weld new flanges on to get them to mach, that way you don't have to cut and weld your catback kit because it always rust first at the welds if not polished or coated with a rust inhibitor.

The 92-95 dx/ex/lx/si's use the same cat, the ex/si had a 4-2-1 setup, dx had a 4-1 manifold with a single tube downpipe. The midpipe/rear section is universal between dx/lx/si/ex, cx/hx midpipes will bolt to up to an ex/lx/dx/si header without the cat. Your best bet is to do the whole thing at once and get an ex/si header/cat/midpipe and a hatch rear section. That way you can use 92-00 hatch/coupe/sedan header/cat/midpipe and then a 92-00 hatch rear section.
