Default PCV system (Breather Box) removal

I am having a significant amount black thick crud coming up through the breather box plugging my pcv valves, How exactly do I go about removing the breather box from my 1997 Honda civic lx with the d16y7?

Can I do it from the top by removing the intake manifold?? or only under the car?? I want to clean out the box itself, and the holes in the back of the block, any info or advice would be nice.

That specific answer has not been covered, not in the hour of reading I did.

Just a lot of conversations on how to bypass the PCV system or install aftermarket boxes.

This question is rather on the silly side. At which point are you able to access the breather box easiest? Have you tried it yet? Under the car seems the best bet.

Securely support the car on jackstands (not a jack!) and go from under the car. There are 2 bolts. The hard part will likely be getting to the upper bolt. The proper socket and extension are required, I suspect 10mm. You may want to disconnect the box from the block and then disconnect the hose(s) and PCV valve. Then the box is just fitted into the round hole in the block with an o-ring. Once the bolts are removed you can wiggle and pull and it will pop out. When reinstalling use care and don't strip/crossthread the bolts/block. Use a new o-ring from Honda (#8 in the diagram) if you're concerned about oil seepage.

Have you changed your PCV valve? You should probably while you have it out (#3 in the diagram).
